What is British Tourism Week (BTW)?
British Tourism Week is a week-long promotion to raise awareness of tourism both to and within Britain, to promote training and professionalism, and demonstrate the contribution made by businesses large and small, public and private in making tourism the fifth largest industry in the UK.

Who is organising British Tourism Week?
VisitBritain is co-ordinating this week-long promotion, with the support of The Tourism Society, and an Executive Committee comprising the Tourism Alliance; Wales Tourism Alliance; Scottish Tourism Forum; VisitEngland; VisitScotland; Visit Wales; Visit London; the English Regions; British Hospitality Association; ABTA the Travel Association; UKinbound; Local Government Association; Association of Leading Visitor Attractions; Holiday Cottages Group; British Beer & Pub Association; Coach Tourism Council; Group Travel Organisers Association; and Best of Britain & Ireland Events - please see Governance for further details.
Who is British Tourism Week aimed at?
BTW is aimed at different audiences including politicians, the media, the industry itself and students in schools, colleges and universities who are considering a career in the industry, and it also has a consumer focus for those involved in domestic and/or inbound tourism to Britain.
How do I get involved?
There are many ways in which you can get involved in British Tourism Week. You can:
- Organise your own tourism industry event under the BTW banner, or brand an existing event as part of British Tourism Week
- Participate as a delegate or speaker at an existing BTW event
- Sponsor or support a BTW event
- Invite your local MP, AM, MSP or local councillor to visit your tourism business
- Exhibit or visit the Best of Britain and Ireland Travel Trade Forum
- Publicise British Tourism Week so others get to find out about it in time to plan their own activities

Can I use the British Tourism Week branding?
This will be supplied to all participating industry events upon successful application. In addition, it may be used on your own website to link to the BTW website.

Why is BTW concerned only with domestic and inbound tourism?
BTW was conceived by its' supporting organisations to raise awareness of tourism to and within Britain. These organisations do not have a remit with regard to outbound travel from Britain.
What is Party on the Pier?
Party on the Pier will be a national celebration of Britain’s seaside piers, harbours and jetties around the coast and on inland rivers, canals and lakes. It will be the event that kicks off the fifth British Tourism Week on Saturday 12 March 2011.
